Highlight of Mission Trip #2: Paraguay #GetUP&GO

14 Jan

 P-A-R-A-G-U-A-Y!

Is GOD calling   you to a short-term mission trip?

We will be sending another team to Paraguay on August 3 – 11, 2013 to work with Su Refugio Children’s Home, conduct outreach ministry to the community, and minister and strengthen local churches in the area.

C-H-I-L-D-R-E-N

Su Refugio

is a Christian orphanage where the local government places abused children. We will host a VBS program for the 18-or-so children there, ages 5-16.

Local Schools

are open for us to do puppet ministry, crafts, and share the gospel.

W-O-M-E-N

The women at Su Refugio and the local town (Tobati) have few job opportunities due to lack of skills. We hope to teach them skills they can use – sewing, drawing… whatever YOU can do you can TEACH!

F-A-M-I-L-I-E-S

We plan to hold evangelical campaigns and services at the orphanage and in the town. We want to help with already established home churches and help establish new home churches.

Highlight of Mission Trip: Vancouver or #Getup&GO

10 Jan

Canada%20Maple%20Leaf[1]

VANCOUVER, Canada

Date:  May 15 – 21, 2013

Serving:  The Crossings Church, Jeff and Sara Phillips

Story
In October of 2008, Jeff and Sara helped with a conference called Passion: Vancouver to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary.  They left the city physically to go back home, but their hearts never left.  After spending a year and a half of raising support, they moved to Vancouver in April of 2010 to start thecrossings.

Our church at Trinity support Jeff and Sara Phillips, who served at Trinity as Youth Pastor. We have sent a couple of teams to assist their church plant.  We also support them financially, through ministry resources, and through our prayers. Jeff and Sara have a passion for making disciples, and a great desire for people of all nations to worship our Savior.

The City of Vancouver

There are approximately 80,000 people in the Downtown Corridor of Vancouver, yet only about 2-3% have been reached by the Gospel.

The ciy of Vancouver is multi-ethnic with a high population of Asian culture. There are over 150 different languages represented in Vancouver.

If all the churches in Metro Vancouver (including the downtown core) were filled to capacity, only 2% of the population would be in church. The need for churches to be planted to reach the people of Vancouver is great. Vancouver is the most un-churched city in North America.

Our Teams’ Task in May 2013

Our team will assist the Crossings Church in reaching out to their community.  Our team will assist their church in ministering to a local school as well as other areas of the city.  As you read above, Vancouver is unreached by the gospel; not simply unreached, but totally unfamiliar with who Jesus Christ is, much less the Gospel.  You will have an opportunity to magnify the work that they are doing in building and strengthening relationships in their community. The team will also have the opportunity to worship and minister alongside the Crossings Church.

Where and When Can I Find Out More Information:

We will have an informational meeting on January 27 and February 3 (choose one to attend) where you can find out more about the estimated cost, ask questions, other details, and an opportunity to  make a commitment. Plus find out about more mission opportunities in 2013-2014.

INFO Meeting:  January 27 and Feb 3 immediately following the AM worship. Meet in the Chapel.

I encourage anyone simply interested in going overseas to order a US Passport (even if you don’t go overseas this year) so that you will have it and be ready to go. Go to this webpage to find out the requirements for getting a passport:  http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html

The web addersses below give more info about Jeff and Sara and the crossings church in Vancouver.
