What are you doing this Summer? ~ Mission Trip to Navajo Reservation, Arizona

27 Jan

Pure Heart Bible Church in Kaibito, Arizona
June 22 – 30, 2012

The Navajo Reservation is the largest in the nation covering 27,425 sq miles with 300,048 people in N.E. Arizona, S.E. Utah, and N.W.New Mexico.

Trinity Baptist will be serving Pure Heart Bible Church in Kaibito, Arizona by reaching out to their community through Bible school for the children, Bible teachings for adults, and construction work on homes. Kaibito, Arizona is about 30 minutes South of Page, Arizona near the Utah border.

Stan Patterson, the pastor, and his wife Maxine have served on the reservation since 1999. In 2004 they started the church with about 30 members, grew to 70 members while meeting in their home.  In 2010, they built the current church building.

Who can go? How many is on this team?
The trip is open to men and women, and families with children. We would like to take a team of at least 30 people to do construction work, and teach children, youth, and adults.

Anticipated Cost:
$55/person for food and fuel.
$100/room for 2 nights
+ additional spending money mainly for food on the road. The team will probably have a meal or two in Page, AZ. Plus any sightseeing money that you would like to bring.
The team will be lodging at Pure Heart Bible Church.

HOME TEAM:
If you cannot go, but would like to be a part of this team, we have a HOME TEAM that will lead efforts to get our whole church involved by collecting donations for construction material and tools for the Navajos and their homes.

INFORMATIONAL  Meeting on Sunday, January 29th at Noon in the Chapel.

Deposit Due on February 19th.

This will be our third year in a row serving the Native American tribes in Arizona.  There is a great need to serve the Navajo community in Kaibito. We need to support Pure Heart Bible Church in its efforts to reach its community for Christ. There are few churches that have served in this area. This would be a great opportunity not only to assist this church, but to learn how to prepare yourself as missionaries do when they enter into a different culture.  You will receive mandatory training on the Navajo culture, what to expect, how to communicate, and how to share the story of the Bible and Jesus Christ.  We also have opportunity to perform construction work and repair work on many of the homes.

You will never regret going. In fact, you will come back with a greater appreciation for God’s grace, and a larger heart to reach people of all nations. I strongly urge you to go if at all possible.

Pioneer Evangelism is a training ministry which consist of training lay evangelists to go into areas where there are no churches (pioneer areas), winning souls to Christ and starting new works. We would train the nationals and they in turn would be better equipped to reach the people in their country. The goal is to make disciples of Jesus Christ by planting self-supporting, self governing and self-propagating churches under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. The emphasis is not to start just one church but churches starting multiple churches which in turn start more churches.

In fact, Training Pastors International needs teams of two to four people to go to specific countries in Central and South America to teach this material.  There are 15 dates and locations. Husband and wife teams can go together and/or men paired with other men from our church may go to these areas to encourage and equip these men and their families who labor for Christ for nothing, and with little to no resources.
